Ivan Solén doesn't explain his songs. He inhabits them. They know the backseat at age 7. They know the weight of a gold chain in the dark. They know what it costs to finally put something down you've been carrying your whole life.

His debut album The Weight We Carry Home arrived fully formed — 13 songs, not one wasted note, rated 9.2/10. Not the work of a man learning to write. The work of a man who had been carrying the material for thirty years and finally found the language.

The Long Way Home is the sequel — brighter, wider, neon-lit and city-dark at once. Where the debut asked "why does this hurt?", the second album asks "where do I go now?" The answer, it turns out, is: the long way. Always the long way.

Ivan Solén is not performing vulnerability. He is simply the most honest version of one man. And in that honesty, he becomes every man who ever swallowed something he should have said.
